About Tracie Hotchner
Tracie Available for Speaking Engagements
Pet expert and host of radio shows
Dog Talk® and
Cat Chat® & Dog Talk®
Tracie began her fascination with dogs and cats by turning her eye as a former investigative reporter on every aspect of living with them, resulting in her encyclopedic resource THE DOG BIBLE: Everything Your Dog Wants You to Know and then the THE CAT BIBLE: Everything Your Cat Expects You to Know. Before long, Tracie was established as a leading pet wellness advocate as her her all-encompassing books covered everything from medical issues to behavior, nutrition and problem solving, winning the hearts and minds of people whose dogs and cats were their family members. Tracie became influential in part because her research uncovered quite a few ground-breaking revelations about the truth behind pet commercial foods and the problems with passively accepting conventional thinking in all aspects of pet welfare. Both books actually advocated that pet owners” Question authority” — and come to personalized decisions about every aspect of their pet's lifestyle, which has been the hallmark of Tracie's approach to making the best choices for four-legged family members.
Tracie began her career as a radio personality with a live show — DOG TALK® (and Kitties, Too!) - on the local NPR station in the Hamptons, Peconic Public Broadcasting (WPPB) from Southampton, New York (the show is now also carried on the NPR station Robinhood Radio in Connecticut and the Berkshires). DOG TALK® won a Gracie® Award (the radio equivalent of an Oscar) in 2010 as the “Best entertainment and information program on local public radio” and continues weekly after more than 300 shows and eight years on the air. Tracie's live weekly call-in show CAT CHAT® was on SiriusXM satellite radio for seven years until the Martha Stewart channel was canceled.
This freed Tracie to create the Radio Pet Lady Network, beginning with CAT CHAT® & DOG TALK® with her fellow previous traveler on SiriusXM, Dr. Shawn “The Natural Vet” — and then expanding to all the different live shows on the network that she co-hosts.
Tracie also hosts HUMANE TALK, a weekly 15-minute podcast of a conversation with Wayne Pacelle, the CEO of the Humane Society of the United States about issues affecting animals of every species around the world. Podcast at humanesociety.org/podcast/ or listen right on the Radio Pet Lady Network schedule.
Tracie lives in Vermont where the Radio Pet Lady Network studio that her husband Edward manages is based — on 13 acres they have for their three rescued dogs — two big Weimaraners, Scooby Doo and Teddy, and a Collie mix, Jazzy. To Tracie’s dismay, her dog pack makes her home unsafe for cats, but the four-legged family expanded to Mona and Lisa, a mother and daughter pair of mini-donkeys.
[Tracie wants it clear that she does not have plans at this time to write THE DONKEY BIBLE: Everything Your Donkeys Ass-ume You Already Know.]
