Drinking Less After Switch To Wet Food
Hello again Tracie!
Now that my cats are switched to wet food, I have noticed that they drink
nearly 70% less water than they did while they were on the dry cereal. Is
this okay? I am guessing so due to the high water content of the wet
foods, but want to be sure. I am also guessing they will simply drink as
their systems need to??
Another: When I am away on a weekend, I am forced to put out cereal as no
one is around to feed them the wet food. Please tell me that this is all
right. I've noticed already that once they get the cereal over a weekend,
they are right back into it, like a drug; they want it all the time then.
Thanks!

Congrats on making the switch to wet - and you're right about the water intake. Not drinking, or drinking very little, is a natural condition and sign of health. Cats are not naturally supposed to drink water, the moisture is supposed to come directly from their food.
But NO!!! you cannot put out kitty krack kibble under any circumstances. It IS addictive (as you have seen yourself) and is harmful in any quantity. Please consider hiring a pet sitter - to feed, scoop the litter, and spend time with the kitties. If you cannot, then get a dispenser made for canned food which dispenses it.
Stick with the Cat Chat program - do not fall back into the dry food trap - your cats will thank you for it long term.
