RUN to a New Vet
Recently our cat is vomiting after he eats. He is not having any trouble with bowel movements. Because of the vomiting, we went to the vet. No blockage was seen on the x rays however the vet suggested that they proceed with an operations to confirm whether or not a blockage exists. We have not proceeded with this course of action.
Thru a friend, I understand that you are an advocate of wet food over dry. Can you suggest a wet food that is available and is good value here in Canada and can you advise me as to how long it should take to see any difference?
Flavia
RUN as fast as you can to another vet for a second opinion - it is a rare doctor who does exploratory surgery anymore - there are so many non-invasive options that this just sounds all wrong. You obviously sensed this yourself when you declined that decision.
I don't know what brands you have in Canada but there are many fine brands in the supermarkets here and am sure there must be there, too.
More important than one brand or another is for you to learn how to READ A LABEL and then know what to look for in ingredients and what to avoid.
My book THE CAT BIBLE explains this very clearly - and if you do decide to get it, please let me know your address so I can send you an autographed bookplate to put in it inscribed to your kitty.
I also recommend that you go no www.TheCatBible.com and read all the Q&A's that have to do with nutrition - it explains the whole wet vs. dry issue and many others.
I wish you well and hope you get some useful answers soon.
Best,
Tracie
