Wet Food Resistance

My kitties have been eating canned food for about 2 weeks now (off of kitty krack), and just about ate anything I put in front of them. But the one cat has started to refuse everything. She sniffs and walks away, then looks at me with those big kitty eyes. Food she ate before with gusto she walks away from. I've given her salmon because that is her favorite, but she doesn't like it on the same plate with the canned food. Any suggestions? My main concern is that someone said cats will starve themselves - true? I've been throwing out a lot of food that I have left out for her because I thought she would eat it eventually. My other kitty eats the food, so there isn't anything wrong with it. I've been giving them a variety of Trader Joe's Ocean, EVO, Pinnacle, etc. all the good stuff.

I don't believe she is sick because she will eat the salmon. She has never been a fussy eater, but now I just don't know what to do. I've pressed the salmon on top of the canned and she won't touch it.

Thanks,
Betty

Hi Betty,

Please look on my website www.TheCatBible.com and see the Q&A's posted with suggestions about making the transition. There are many tricks and treats you can use to get that cat to embrace the good wet food.

I appreciate the frustration you must be feeling, but please do not give up or give in - stick with the program and before long she will have switched over to the wet food. Once you're over the hump, you'll see the huge improvement in your cat.

Best,
Tracie
