Philip Padrid, DVM from Chicago is the Official Vet of Dog Talk, Tracie’s weekly radio show on NPR affiliate WLIU. But since he is a lung specialist who is the world’s leading authority on asthma in cats -– how could we pass up that golden opportunity to have him join the cat chat family?

We are so lucky at Dog Talk to have the informational back-up and frequent presence of Dr. Phil on the show. He lives and practices in Chicago but has generously made himself available to us on Saturdays, right after playing his favorite sport, basketball.

Once you’ve heard his warm, kind and wise opinions and advice you may find yourself thinking that Chicago isn’t that far away! But instead of moving to the Windy City to get his help, you can just stay connected to Dog Talk.

Dr. Phil graduated from Cornel University in 1985, where he received an award in cardiology, then completed his internship at Santa Cruz Veterinary Hospital, his residency at UC-Davis Veterinary School and then finished a fellowship at UC-Davis Medical School in 1990.

For 10 years he was an Associate Professor of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He joined Family Pet Animal Hospital (www.FamilyPetAnimalHospital.com) full time in 2003 as a general practitioner with a specialty in respiratory medicine.

If you have concerns about respiratory problems in your cat, or she has been diagnosed with asthma and you want a consultation for either yourself or your vet with Dr.Padrid, just click on the link and tell him Cat Chat sent you. Dr. Phil will make an appointment to help you over the phone (unless you 're lucky enough to live near Chicago and you can actually go there in person).

Tracie welcomes any and all questions about cats AND dogs on both her live radio shows. Call in to DOG TALK® on Saturdays from 11-Noon (EST) to 800-394-8830 or Wednesdays 8-9 PM (EST) to CAT CHAT® 866-675-6675. (You don't need to have Sirius to call in!)
