Dog Food and Treats
BRAKE-FAST (www.Brake-fast.net) has designed a clever bowl for dogs who eat too quickly. It is blue plastic and has three pillars molded into the bototm of the dish so that the dog has to eat aorund them. Eating slower is better for digestion and this dish is sure better than the clean smooth rocks I used to put in Billy Blue's bowl to slow him down! Price: around $13.
BARCUITS (www.barkcuits.com) are gourmet homemade dog treats for everyday or festive occasions. Visit barcuits.com to see photos of the great party given by Billy Bean, the Pet Correspondent of the Peninsula, Beverly Hills - with barkcuits goodies for the pooches.
Cherbey's (www.cherbeys.com) If your dog is sick of the same old dry biscuits, wake up her tastebuds with all natural tilapia fish jerky as a treat or bribe - you may even be able to teach an old dog new tricks with Cherbeys as an incentive!
Country Pet (http://www.countrypet.com) From New Zealand, it's not a canned food and not raw, but a lightly blanched fresh meat, a very, very nice alternative.
The Honest Kitchen (www.thehonestkitchen.com) is a small San Diego company with an extraordinary product: they have made feeding raw food to your dog safe and easy. Their ingredients are not just organic, but are minimally processed in a facility that otherwise makes human food – a one-of-a-kind nutritional product. Giving dogs raw food has become of great interest to people who are savvy about nutrition, but there can be complications to offering raw meat and bones. Now there is an easily shipped and stored super-healthy food to use along with high-quality kibble and canned meat. My picky-eating dog became a chow hound with Honest Kitchen in her bowl, and the one with digestion problems is feeling and looking better.
The Honest
Kitchen's dehydrated raw food is the one of the best ways to go "all
natural" and "raw" without
making yourself a slave to the kitchen or dealing with all the hassles
and potential problems of feeding raw meat and chicken. This minimally
processed food is made in a factory that makes only human food, assuring
you of a the highest possible level of nutrition.
Honey Bark Bakery (http://www.honeybark.com) Anyone on Long Island, in New York City or the environs should consider themselves lucky to have this yummy canine bakery in their neighborhood, ready to bake your dog's birthday cake, muttrimony wedding cake, puppy class graduation cupcakes, holiday cookies or all the other occasions you want to celebrate with delicious dog-friendly baked goods.
Oma's Pride (www.omaspride.com) is a family-owned business based in Connecticut that makes a human-grade mix of raw hormone-free meats, bones and blanched vegetables. It is all frozen to kill any bacteria and available for direct shipping if there is no retail distributor near you. Go on the Web site and see for yourself how easy and safe raw feeding can be if you want to incorporate it into your pet's diet or at some point go "completely raw," as so many nutritionally-educated people are doing.
Platinum Performance (www.platinumperformance.com) is a food supplement for general health but particularly for dogs with joint problems or post-surgeries. Please read pages 453-454 in THE DOG BIBLE to learn about the amazing positive transformation this product made for Tracie’s dogs (she pays full price, by the way!) and the people to whom she recommended it.
