Second-Hand Smoke
A friend was debating with me whether smoking is harmful to pets. I said that second-hand smoke has to be bad, especially in light of the recent movement by states to ban people from smoking in a car with children inside.
So true. And even more true of dogs, who are close to the ground where the tar and nicotine settles. The dogs are breathing the dangerous second-hand smoke, and then the particles fall on their bodies and are picked up on their paws, which they often lick to self-groom. So keep the smoking outside of the house, even if pets are not in the immediate room in which the smoking is taking place.
