Praise for The Dog Bible by Tracie Hotchner

“Tracie -- I met you over the summer at a dog show in Oyster Bay. I was thinking about getting a Boston Terrier and went to the show to meet Bostons and their owners. While there you came up to me and gave me a pamplet for The Dog Bible. For a second there I thought "Great...someone trying to sell me something I don't need." Later on I looked at the pamplet and decided to go find you and check out the book. You gave me a lecture on dog food (which I never forgot) and also told me not be guilty about getting a dog when I work during the day. I decided to buy the book.

“Best. Decision. Ever. Since then I've read and reread it. I didn't end up getting a dog right away because my life was pretty unstable at the time, I was living at home with my family and didn't know how much longer I would be there or where I would move. I ended up in Atlanta, and finally got a dog just a couple days ago. He's a purebred Boston I found at a shelter, around 2 years old they think. He was a stray, unneutered, and a little firecracker when I visited him in the shelter. In fact, people visiting another dog said 'That dog is crazy!'. I thought, how dare they say that about my dog!! I ended up adopting him even though I knew I might be in for a chaotic adjustment period. I named him Danger, the name I told you I was reserving for my Boston when I met you (You signed the book to him).

“Some combination of his awesomeness and my dog knowledge (thanks to your book) has turned him literally overnight into the most AMAZING dog I can imagine. I have had him for only two days. He has learned sit, paw, lay down. He knows "crate". He is already essentially housebroken and goes as soon as we get outside, in his usual spot. He is so eager to please. I really can't say enough about him. I'm sure he would've been great if I hadn't read your book, but there's no way he would have been THIS well behaved. Thank you! ”
--Best, Kristen P

“The Dog Bible is the ultimate dog book of knowledge for both beginners and experts in the dog world. I love this book and constantly use it as a point of reference on my international talk show.”
—Jon Patch, Host - Talkin' Pets

“I can’t think of one person who knows more - or cares more – about dogs than Tracie Hotchner. This book reflects her lifelong dedication and by sharing her wisdom with us, she is giving us a rare gift. I’m buying copies to send to my daughter for her new puppy and to all my dog-loving friends for Christmas. Bravo to you!”
—Joanne Woodward

“I raise guide dog pups and have two other family dogs so I am well versed, but I am always amazed at how little most dog owners know and how much less they understand their dogs. I just wanted to say how wonderful this book is! I was so impressed – finally factual information with a common sense approach. This should be a MUST READ for every dog owner. Thanks so much for the fabulous experience – now I know what I’m getting for all my dog-owning friends for the holidays!”
—Jane C., New York

“Whether you're starting out with your very first dog, or you think you're experienced in the ways of dogs,
The Dog Bible will tell you something you didn't know. And both you and your dog will be better for it.”

—Wayne Pacelle, President and CEO, The Humane Society of the United States

“Hotchner ...has written a comprehensive, accurate, readable, and reasonably priced encyclopedia on dog ownership for the lay reader...This book covers the entire spectrum of canine concerns: selection, training, nutrition, health and more. The checklists in each chapter succinctly summarize the text. A unique feature directed to children, 'Scooby’s Twenty-five Rules for Kids,' teaches them how to coexist peacefully with dogs.”
—Library Journal

“People and dogs have a simple, unwritten contract: The dog provides the devotion, love, companionship and work while we accept the responsibility of providing food, water, shelter, healthcare in life and death, and hopefully some love in return. Unfortunately, we as people often fall short. Dogs rarely do. Tracie Hotchner has written a book that will help us keep up our side of the bargain.”
—Dr. Barry C. Browning, B.V.M. & S., M.R.C.V.S.

“I believe Ms. Hotchner was a dog in a previous life. Her perspective is that detailed and complete. Since I speak ‘dog’ fluently and converse with my three canines, Lucy, Henry and the ‘diva’ Frances, we have agreed that it is the finest book about dogs ever written.”
—Jamie Lee Curtis

“My three dogs, Veronica, Lulu, and Max, are all barking, ‘Finally! The book we've all been waiting for!’ Everything you've ever wanted or needed to know about your dog is in here. Hooray!”

—Joan Rivers

“Damn, wish I was your puppy...”
— Sophie B. Hawkins and Skeeter, Huck (mini-Dachshunds) & Virginia Wolff (black Lab)

“Whaooo! Finally a book I can recommend to all my canine pals who stay at the Peninsula Hotels and travel the world. They all have discerning humans who want only the best and Tracie’s The Dog Bible is the Pen-ultimate!”
—Billy Bean “Beagle”
Pet Correspondent for the Peninsula Beverly Hills

“My animal companion, Belinda Barkowitz, loves this book. Belinda is psychic (like most Standard Poodles) and she predicts that dog lovers will buy many copies of The Dog Bible to give to all their friends.”
—Erica Jong
