Southampton Animal Shelter: Adoptable Pets
Tracie is proud to announce that the Official Shelter of DOG TALK® is the one closest to the Peconic Public Broadcasting studios — and is also a shelter close to her heart as her Collie-mix dog Jazzy came from there, her reluctant Weimaraner Scooby Doo tried (and hated!) agility classes there and her beloved Weimaraner Lulu is memorialized in one of the bricks at the entrance that helped Susan Allen to build this extraordinary shelter. Just as 88.3 has gone through some challenging times to stay alive and rebuild itself, so did the Southampton Shelter have to withstand the vicious, destructive and ignorant assault of a few local residents — yet the Good Guys prevailed. Tracie is thrilled to invite the shelter to be part of DOG TALK® and every week share a pair of their adoptable pets on this website and on the air to connect deserving animals with good homes. Pets of the Week: Allie & Diego and Angel Baby
ALLIE & DIEGO
Allie & Diego are 3 years old and came to us because their owner died. They are sweet and very beautiful! They would decorate any home!

Angel Baby is a 5 year dachsund looking for someone to talk to. Yes, she would love to hang out on you lap or couch and chat!
Roxbury & Ernie
ROXBURY
Roxbury is a 3 year old, just under 70 lbs., rescued boxer mix from Georgia. If you want a goofy, playful hunk o' love, he's your guy! He does not descriminate with any furry friends and is quite a people pleaser, no matter the size! He may be on the big side, too, but he would fit right in to any home!
ERNIE
Ernie is already dressed up as a handsome specimen of a tuxedo cat! At 1 year and 10 months old, he came from a home with too many cats. He is very purrsonable, likes to play, flirt and smooch and he certainly knows how to share!
Rex & Fig (Middle-Aged Companions)

Rex is a 7 year old lab who loves a lot of attention! Tennis balls, running, hiking, toys and treats keep him a happy go lucky guy. He is okay with other dogs and cats. Adults and older children are best suited for this energetic guy!
FIG
Fig is an 8 year old supersized sweetie whose owner had to go to a nursing home. He's fun and loves to snuggle and would like a big lap or a cushy bed to curl up on!

Felix & Oscar are 1 & 1/2 year old brothers. These dashing and sleek black sweeties were found as strays trying to survive in the cold and scary outdoors. They are handsome, polite gentlemen who love to play, love affection, and reciprocate purringly!

I'm a 4 year old shy girl with a warm spot in my huge heart for the right family! A wonderful blend of Lab & Sharpei makes me look unique! I like other dogs and toys, lots o' toys! I came a long way from Vermont to find a home.

Me and my siblings came from a home with too many cats. I' m a stylin' 1yr & 9 mos. old & have quite the purrsonality to match! I would love to have a real place to call home!

Chance is about 4 years old. "Charm, good lookin' and charisma! I also have great obedience skills and I'm very athletic. I am selective with my dog friends and don't like cats, but if you're willing to take a "chance" on me, I would love to be your best friend forever!"

Hermione is a cute 11 month old tortie. "My sister, Ginny, and I were found as stray kittens by some 'muggles'. She has been adopted and now it's my turn. I am the shy one, so I need a little coaxing and then I am purrfectly content to be pampered!"

Aubrey is a 10 mos. old brindle beauty whose owner had no time for her. " I'm quite the social girl! I play well with other dogs, love toys and people! I have oodles of energy and love to learn new things! Give me stuff to do and I'm very happy! I really don't like cats, though."

Sasha is a gorgeous blue cream calico who came to us as a stray. She is about a year & 8 mos. old and couldn't be any sweeter! All she asks for is a lap to sit in.

Nikki is a shy, yet sweet black and white kitty who is just under 2 years old. She came from a home with too many cats, so she knows how to share! She really purrks up if you give her a treat!

James is a friendly and funny 1 year and 8 month old boy who came from a home with too many cats. He most certainly knows how to share and get along with others!

Tigger is a handsome lab mix who just under 2 years old. He has a lot of energy and smarts! He is well trained and knows all of his commands. A home with older kids would be best suited for this athletic guy!

Fester is also just under 2 years of age. He has been here since he was a stray kitten. He has quite the funny purrsonality. Come by and see it for yourself! Fester won't disappoint! Please show him what a real home is like!

Snoopy is a 7 year old Boston Terrier/Pit mix. She had a family with kids, cats, and another dog. Snoopy gets along with everyone human or furry. She is a sweet, petite, treat for any home!

I'm very smart and athletic, so you can teach me lots of stuff and we could go running together! I don't like cats and I'm picky about my dog friends. Older kids would be best because of my energy!"

Rachel, the beautiful calico girl, is a senior sweetheart at 12 years old and she is looking for her Valentine or a lap, or both!

Caramel is a 13 year old tiger who would be happy with a nice warm place to curl up. She came from a hoarder situation with 50 other cats who were rescued in total. She would be quite content in a quiet home.
SCRUFFY
Scruffy is a 10 year old terrier mix who came from a sad place. He was brought here from another shelter as a special case. He needs a quiet home with someone who will share their couch with him. He needs to slowly warmup to strangers and treats can do the trick! We are looking for a Foster home for Scruffy if a permanent one can't be found.

Muriel is a beautiful 4 year old black and white kitty who has been here since she was a kitten. She doesn't know what a home is outside this shelter. She is quite the "diva" and loves the attention as she accepts it purringly !

Lionel is a 6 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback & Doberman mix. He is quite the gentleman. He likes to shake hands (paws) when he meets you! He is best suited with older teens and he can be picky about some of his dog friends. This versatile guy will jog with you or couch potato!

Lori is a 1 year & 8 month old tortie without the attitude! She loves people, and even likes dogs! She is one of the staff's favorite purrsonalities!

Charlie is a very handsome gold colored pitbull. His owner had no time for him, so he needs a home that does. He is 1 year and 9 months old, very smart and extremely friendly! Older kids wuld be best suited for this guy and no cats, please!

Shazaam is a very handsome 4 year old who was abandoned. He is very loveable and also de-clawed. He magically grows on you!

Orleans is a 7 year old beauty! Her owner moved and couldn't take her. She has been here a long time. The adoption fee is waived this week during our "12 Days of Catmas" promotion. Orleans would decorate any home with her presence!

Felix and Oscar are not such an odd couple, however, it was odd how they were brought here. They were in a box at the door of the Shelter. These beautiful sleek black coated 8 month olds are very sweet and very purrrrrsonable!

Max is an 8 year old rescued Puppy Mill Pomeranian who spent most of his 8 years living in a small cage in order to breed puppies. This horrific beginning did not dampen his spirits! He is a special guy who needs a little TLC like a quiet home. Come and meet him and his smile will definately win you over! Max deserves a happy ending in a safe, warm home!

Whiskey is a very handsome 3 year old tiger cat who has been here for 2 years. He hangs out in the Cattery with the other cats in the hopes of finding a home. He loves the young cats to play with and he will give you a special kiss once he knows you. After a bad day, you can come home to a little "Whiskey" to make your day a litle brighter!

Nicole is a petite 5 year old kitty whose owner had died. She and her friend Summer were brought here. Summer was adopted, but Nicole is still waiting. She used to live with a dog, too. She loves laps and with the winter coming, she can keep you warm!
Scruffy (Old Veteran!)

Scruffy is a 10 year old terrier mix who needs a special place for this special guy. He is a veteran survivor having come from another shelter, he was transferred here to us. He is a resilient little guy who overcame some tough times. He needs a quiet home to retire in! He also needs to be introduced slowly to new people.A tough beginning certainly deserves a good ending!

Barry is a handsome gray tabby at 5 years old who was left abandoned in a motel room. He gets along with other cats and loves affection. He has been here since 2008 and deserves a real home to call his own!

Sasha is a beautiful rare colored blue cream and calico cat. at 1 year and 3 months old she came to us as a stray. A very friendly and cuddly kitty who would love to live on your couch!

Tigger is a handsome mix of lab and pit. At a little over a year old, he has bounds of puppy energy. He needs an active home that can help him become the great dog he has the potential to be!

Frances is a Sharpei/pit mix at about 4 1/2 years old. She is a certified Canine Good Citizen dog passing all 10 tests! She is very smart and playful! She is quite the eager people pleaser!

Milo, an Akita/Husky mix is just over a year old. He likes other dogs, but no cats. He would love a home that can help him become the best dog he has the potential to be because he is still a puppy at heart!

Ariah is a 3 year old tortie who was brought here because her owner travelled too much. She is very independent , prefers to be the only cat and she used to live with dogs.

Bella is quite the beauty! Her owner could no longer keep her. She is just over a year old and is still playful as a kitten! She gets along with other cats in the playroom and loves to greet anyone who comes in the room!

Turtle is a sophisticated senior lady who is about 10 years old. She is a sweet tortie who has been here at the Shelter since 2008. Although she likes to hang out in the adoption office once in a while, she would realy love a home to hang out in forever.
Maggie & Frances

Maggie is a 4 year old brown tiger who was found hanging around an Italian Restaurant looking for something to eat. Obviously abandoned, she is looking for a permanent home to hang around and dine in!

Frances is a 4year old pit/sharpei mix. She is a sweet, medium size cutie who was rescued from another Shelter. She likes other dogs, but no cats. Older kids would be okay, too.
Charlotte & Spike
CHARLOTTE
Charlotte is an energetic, playful 3 year old pitbull who was rescued from the Hempstead Animal Shelter. She came here in September of 2010 with her 3 puppies. They were adopted and now it's her turn. She does not like cats, but a family with teens or older would be great. She likes other dogs and toys! Her good looks complete the package!
SPIKE
Spike is a handsome longhaired 10 year old who was abandoned at a local animal hospital with a note. The owner could no longer care for him. He is still very playful and likes to talk! He will keep you company with purrs and conversation!
Taylor & Rachel

Taylor came to us as a very timid stray. She is about 4 years old and is coming around quite nicely now. She is a sweet girl who needs some TLC. Older teens and another dog in the family would be best suited for this beautiful Pit. No cats though!
RACHEL
Rachel is a laid back calico at about 12 years. Her owner died and she came here with her sister, Leah, who was adopted. Now it's Rachel's turn to find a couch or windowsill of her own.
Asia

Asia is about 1 year and 5 months old who was adopted from here as a kitten, but her owner's living situation changed and she was brought back. She is a sweet and gentle brown tiger who just loves pets and returns the favor with loads of purrs!

Fester is sleek all black kitty who is about a year old and came in as a stray kitten in a litter of brothers and sisters (named after the Adams Family). He is very social and sweet and loves to play all day with the other cats in the big playroom!
Elsa

Elsa is a 13 year old blue cream cutie! She was left here in a milk crate by our door about a year ago. She likes to hug you when you hold her and would be very content in a nice quiet home with a lap!
Bonnie

Bonnie came in with her sister, Belle, who were found living in a hotel. She is a sleek, energetic 5 month old! Female spayed doemstic shorthair.
Whiskey
WHISKEY
Whiskey came in as a stray in 2009. He is about 2 years old now, and he likes to be the leader with other cats. He will charm you with his great personality!
Bella
BELLA
Mia and Bella are 3 yr old Domestic long haired female spayed cats. They are very sweet and were turned in together when the owner left a caretaker in charge of them and never returned. They are sisters and it would be great to keep them together. They like other cats and are very sweet.
Suri
SURI
Suri is a 5 yr old female spayed terrier/ catahoula mix. Very sweet and very smart. Was turned in when her owner said the landlord changed his policies on pets. Would have been nice if she just found another apartment! She would love to be someone's new BFF. She likes dogs on her terms and is OK with cats.
Ariah

Ariah is about 3-4yrs old domestic shorthair tortioseshell cat. She is also a spayed female. A real lap cat and is looking for a buddy to curl up with in front of the fireplace with. Good with cats, and wil probably be an easy adjust to dogs too.
Tabitha

Tabitha is a 3 yr old domestic shorthair black cat. She is a real lap cat and as we know the turnover rate for black cats is low so we are hoping we can expedite hers. If you are looking for a cuddler, she is for you.
Turtle (Senior Pet)
November is adopt a senior pet month nationally and we encourage people to come in and adopt a senior pet or 2!! Adoption fees have been waived for senior pets!

She is a real mush and awaits the perfect person who would love to cuddle on the couch and watch old movies with her. Please come meet this gorgeous "Golden gal."
