Dog Talk® Photo Gallery
DOG TALK and THE DOG BIBLE are our human pack of dog-lovers and listeners and I want to celebrate some of the special milestones or individuals.
If they are canine— the youngest or oldest, smallest or largest, longest-survivor of diabetes or kidney disease or cancer—then they will get their photo posted. The only category we will NOT have is "Cutest" because that's impossible: each of you wins on that one!
So call in or email in anything about yourself or your dog that sets a standard and let's see who else challenges you:

Buck (In Memoriam)
Buck, our own dermatologist Dr. John Gordon's beloved Lab, passed away recently after a valiant fight with cancer. This is Buck wearing his Children's Hospital ID tag. He would visit Children's Hospital every other Thursday for several hours to visit the children. As Dr. John said, Buck never met a child he didn't love. And I have to say that while I never had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Buck, just the expression on that sweet face brings me to tears as I realize yet again how lucky we all are to have these dear, dear creatures share and fill our lives.

Bean went to Agway in Bridgehampton New York today and picked out a big ole' can of Wagatha's. YUMMMM!! (this was Bean's comment according to Bambi))

ROMEO was the The Dog Talk® Holiday Dog
Hi Tracie,
My name is Romeo. I'm a 2 and a 1/2-year-old toy poodle. I was trained to pee and poop outdoors, but once in a while I'll suprise my mom and leave her a little present in our living room. She doesn't understand why I do this since I am usually well behaved. Can you explain to her why I do this?
Thank you, Tracie. My mom and I listen to your show, sometimes 4 or 5 in row, when my mom works from home. She learns a lot from you and your guests, but she still hasn't learned to make sure I don't poop or pee in the apartment.
xoxoxo,
Romeo
Dear Little Romeo,
I do think you're the cutest little fella I've ever set eyes on — and with that snappy bow around your neck you look like a holiday gift all wrapped up. You asked for your fifteen minutes of fame, so I am going to make you the Dog Talk® Holiday Dog and you'll be featured right on the opening page of my website for everyone to oooh and ahhh over! As for your little boo-boos in the house maybe you should suggest to your Mom Diana that she get somebody to give her a copy of The Dog Bible for Christmas? It explains all about toy dogs and how small their bladders are and how often they need to be walked or given an indoor potty place and generally how hard they are to house train. You could also give her this number - 800-394-8830 - and tell her to dial it any Saturday from 11:05 Am to Noon (ET) and I'll talk to her about this on the air (I hope it won't embarrass you).

Spectacular View for the Dogs
Does a dog appreciate a view this spectacular? Tom Leigh has had as many as 5 rescued Border Collies and mixes on his place at Little Deer Isle, Maine but he's down to two right now. He teaches his own dogs to herd sheep and teaches herding to summer campers at Glen Highland Farm Border Collie Rescue.

Super Friendly Akitas
These some of Rene'e Russell's handsome and super-friendly Akitas that I visited in Carthage, Missouri - Ben is the row and white and Bear is seen as a baby boy and grown up.

Moose, the Leonberger
Moose is a Leonberger - a German breed with only 4,500 in the U.S. and not quite recognized yet by the AKC, but when that day comes there will be a long waiting list for this enormous mellow, gentle giant. Those red-draped tables are normal table height- and Moose's human Scott is a large man, so you get the general idea!

These two have figured out how to hydrate and refresh - makes you want to put your face right down in the grass with them, doesn't it? Pam is a CAT CHAT® listener on Sirius, who also sent the photo of TaterChip allowing herself to be vacuumed while napping - an amazing gal!

Rufus Rider
This wonderful photo and note are from Judy, whose lovely boxer Rufus has severe arthritis. She got him on Platinum Performance Plus Joint Supplement which helped a lot, but he can still only walk short distances so she found this amazing large dog stroller. She wanted to share the information with anyone experiencing similar problems. she said:
So far the stroller is great! (I have renamed it : Rufus Rider.) Except for the people who think I am crazy! Not dog folks at all. I mean, who could leave someone so special at home?
Now I can go for the length of walks I want while Rufus has a great ride too!
I found the best price through: coastalpetsupplies.com/servlet/StoreFront
Quite a savings compared to other companies.
Rufus and I thank you again for your advice about the Platinum!

YOU THINK YOU HAVE OBEDIENCE CLASS PROBLEMS?
Meet Cody, who's still trying to get it right after 7 classes!

Dear Tracie,
It was a pleasure to speak with you on Cat Chat this week. I was the caller with the 2 year old German Shepherd named Cody who has been to 7 rounds of obedience classes and still counting. he has been to: 1 puppy class, 1 beginning obedience, 2 intermediate classes, 2 CGC classes and 1 clicker training class. He actually passed both CGC classes, I took the second one, just to make sure. He is such a wise-guy, he does just barely enough to get through class, then once class is over, forget about it. You asked me to send a picture, it is so hard to decide which to send because he is quite the character in all of them.
On a more serious note I wanted to send my sincere thank you for all that you do for companion animals. I listen to both your dog talk radio and cat chat religiously, I also own your dog bible. You provide such a valuable educational service and are one of the few out there with a sincere concern for the well being of all animals. The world is truly a better place for our pets because of you.
Thank you!
Julie and Cody

SMOKEY, Our Southern Ambassador
Smokey in Atlanta Georgia is Dog Talk's Southern Belle, under the loving care of Bob, who called in to the show live to tell me how he listens to the DOG TALK on his iPod right in that dog park while Smokey plays ball.

CHRISTIAN (Sag Harbor) is 11 and our youngest caller - with his Italian Greyhound
GAYLE MARTZ (Paris, France) was our first international phone caller, with her company's Sherpa Bag donation to the Dog Bible Pooch Party at Alison's to raffle for good causes
MATTHEW (Swedesboro, New Jersey) is 13, and our first and most successful "virtual dog" owner with his NintenDogs—a Golden Retriever named Star Light, a black Lab named Lightning and a Dalmatian named Spot. Matthew is wheelchair-bound at the moment because of the inoperable brain tumor he has had since he was 7, so his virtual dogs are a virtual necessity (although his real live Golden, Sadie, thought she was enough!)
If you heard 13-year old Matthew on the show Dec 30th, you're probably wondering where to get the NintenDogs for your child—whether they have physical limitations like Matthew, or cannot have a dog for any reason but would love one. You can get them a "virtual" dog to name, train and take care of. Even good to prepare younger kids for the future responsibility of dog ownership. you'll need a Nintendo DS handheld gaming system (Polar White, Coral Pink, Electric Blue & Onyx Black), and you can choose from several versions of NintenDogs, including Labrador Retriever & Friends, Dalmatian & Friends, Dachshund & Friends & Chihuahua & Friends.
BOB (Port Jefferson)- is our oldest Dog Talker at 75, with his black Lab Toby who eats furniture
GiggleGarb.com is the first locally-based business (an online pet boutique) to wave the flag for DOG TALK and the DOG BIBLE POOCH party dinners at Alison's Restaurant - GiggleGarb proprietor Amanda Sherwin will give a surprise door prize at every dinner.
FARTHEST LISTENER(S)
Khristina Oestermann, with her 8-pound Maltese, listens to DOG TALK on her iPOD from Geneva, Switzerland.
Another CONTINENT heard from!! Iyke from Kaduna State, Nigeria, who has four dogs, wants to know how he can get a copy of The Dog Bible since they cannot buy online in their country. I am no honored to be listened to in Africa that I will find a way!
AMUSEMENTS
Dogs Welcome!
A man wrote a letter to a small hotel in a Midwest town he planned to visit on his vacation. He wrote: "I would very much like to bring my dog with me. He is well-groomed and very well behaved. Would you be willing to permit me to keep him in my room with me at night?"
An immediate reply came from the hotel owner, who wrote: "I've been operating this hotel for many years. In all that time, I've never had a dog steal towels, bedclothes, silverware or pictures off the walls. I've never had to evict a dog in the middle of the night for being drunk and disorderly. And I've never had a dog run out on a hotel bill. Yes, indeed, your dog is welcome at my hotel. And, if your dog will vouch for you, you're welcome to stay here, too."
—Our first Dog Talk Amusement came from Farley, Heidi and Bailey Cartter in Beverly Hills, California
