Wagatha's

Wagatha'sSay hello to the newest sponsor of my website: WAGATHA'S, a great little private Vermont- based organic dog cookie company. I first met Norman, one of the co-owners, as he manned the table raising funds for a local dog park in Manchester. where his state-of-the-art baking facility is nestled in the mountains. I think the best way to introduce you to their dee-licious WAGATHA'S biscuits is to share with you the funniest most adorable blog on the planet (do sign up if you want to have some regular laugh-aloud moments) from a dog named (Princess) Daisy, who was recently diagnosed with a tumor. This presumptuous English Bulldog had written previously to tell everyone about the cancer and had made a shameless plea for gifts of treats, which is why I had dug deep in my "present closet" and sent her some amazing new biscuits called Pecks, Smooches & Nuzzles from The Honest Kitchen, along with the fetching little tin of Wagatha's treats. I had no idea she had gotten so hooked until I received the blog myself! Daisy's human is called Lydia Best, a pet-sitter I met several years ago at the Pet Sitters International conference, when I was giving a presentation - and Lydia's career has sky-rocketed parallel to my own. She has become such a successful and prolific pet sitter in Virginia (THOUSANDS of clients!!) that she was recently featured on a whole page of THE BARK magazine and she'll be on DOG TALK JULY 19th, so be sure to catch that show.

New Daisy & Bob'ss Blog Entry: Wonderful Wagatha's (11/7/2008)

Wagatha's Blog

When I was first diagnosed with my heart problems, my very dear friend Tracie Hotchner, sent me a gift box full of goodies. Amongst them was the cutest little round tin of Wagatha's Organic Dog Biscuits, made in Vermont. Oh yum, yum. Now this is what I needed.

I loved the biscuits so much that I sent my Mom shopping in Leesburg and she found me some big tins of my very own. Whereas I am considering sharing with Bob, on the other paw, I may not. Bob and Rusty and Scarlett have some company at their home today and tomorrow. A little brown Cocker Spaniel who cannot hear a sound. I don't think she reads lips, but my Gram says she can get her to understand a little bit if she looks right at her.

This service is called a Bed & Biscuit in our company, but I don't think I will be sharing my biscuits with Mia Mackey either. It's not, you understand, that I am selfish. I just don't want anyone to have my Wagatha's.

This morning I had chicken breast and Wagatha's Breakfast Biscuits. They have cinnamon in them. Oh boy. My Mom and my Gram say they don't care if I want dog biscuits for breakfast, they just want me to eat. I will, I will. I promise.

So if you want to have some Wagatha's of your own, you can go online to Vermont Made and you can order them for yourself. There is no shipping if your order is over $50, and as far as I am concerned that is a small price to pay for this heavenly treat. Or you can go to Dog Day Afternoon in our own town of Leesburg, Virginia, and you can buy them there. Just be sure you tell them that The Princess sent you, either place you shop.

I found a picture of their cute little logo (see above) that is on the front of all of their tins and I wanted to share with you.

Isn't this just the cutest little thing ever? If Bob wasn't so lazy he could have auditioned for this and probably it would be his picture out there. I just don't know what to do with that Boy.

So have fun, and when you go to buy your Wagatha's please send me a few bones from every tin you buy. That way I won't run out. That would be bad. What would I have for breakfast?

Love and Licks,

Daisy

Oh and by the way - I forgot - Wagatha's Biscuits are KOSHER, so now my friends Boris and Stewie can eat them. Quick, I have to call my Aunt Jennie to tell her.

Raining Bones (blog post)

Do you know that old saying: "If dreams were like wishes, bones would rain from the sky" I always liked that. I dream about bones raining down on Bob all of the time. The big hard ones. Right on his dopey little head.

Oops. Sorry. I have been promising my Auntie Tracey that I won't say stuff like that about poor little Baby Bob any longer. Just like I stopped using the phrase Mouse Man and started to use Mouse Person, I will start being nicer to Bob. Or not.

In any event, here is what the wonderful owner of Wagatha's Bakery, wrote to me (his name is Norman)

Dear Daisy;
What can I say but... the biscuits are on the way...
Not to confuse you but, please don't wait for the guy in brown as we use the guy in blue (FedEx).
Goes well with the blue state... Vermont! Enjoy, get well, wag!

So my shameless begging has once again paid off.  I really don't think there is anything wrong with shameless begging, do you? And besides if all I want for breakfast is Wagatha's Breakfast Biscuits, then as it should be, that is what I will get. And besides. The best thing about eating biscuits for breakfast is that one can lay in bed and do it. And that is exactly what I, Daisy, The Princess, am doing these days. I encourage you to at least try this move and see if your parents will go for it.

And of course, my Auntie Tracie had a lot to say on the subject of the fine State of Vermont, so I'll let you read her comments:

Oh Daisy dear, you do have a way with words!

You are so right - why would your people want to do something bizarre like visit Maine when Vermont has Wagatha's in it? Another great thing about Vermont is all those rules like no wearing white shoes before Memorial Day or your very good point about avoiding polka dot panties with white pants do NOT apply in Vermont! Anything goes! Nobody cares a whit - after all, it's a state with three cows for every human and you know how lax bovines are about their accessories.

Anyway, I digress. This is really by way of saying that we would ADORE to have to you come on up here. And your ploy worked like a dream! Your larder is about to be refilled (and you MUST keep the promise about sharing a few biscuits with dear saintly Bob). You are not one for a subtle hint, are you little Bully girl? Your New Best Friend Norman at Wagatha's has already asked me for your mailing address (can you have your Gram send it to him - Norman@Wagathas.com? You say she isn't always a great secretary but I have faith in her skills, given the promise of the UPS man putting that address to good use to put a smile on your face). I also betcha that Norman will give you a personal tour (like he did me) of his beautiful little factory where you watch the biscuits bake in the shiny revolving ovens which were made to cook French bread (although I am sure you'll wonder why you would waste oven space for anything but a Wagatha's goody.)

I would definitely recommend coming to visit before making an actual move - one thing to consider is that your Mom has this booming pet sitting business in beautiful Virginia - which got her into a glossy magazine and soon on a snazzy radio show - and in Vermont her new client base would most likely be the aforementioned fashion-challenged cows. And without a nice income, how is she going to keep you lavished with the lifestyle you've demanded from puppy hood? I mean unless you have charmed everybody else as effectively as Norman to get your Wagatha's biscuits gratis, they need a dependable income flow for a high maintenance girl like you. And I don't mean that critically, either.

I love a bulldog with high standards and tendencies towards being a shopaholic. Oh, did I mention that in Manchester - which is the World Headquarters of Wagatha's - that they have some of the fanciest outlet shopping in the world (Giorgia Armani, Lily Pulitzer, Furla, Uggs). Did I just say the magic word?

Should I fluff the pillows in the guest rooms?

I guess Auntie Tracey is right. There is little point in moving to Vermont without my Gram and my Mom. Some day soon (just about the time the bones start raining from the sky), my Mom will be rich and famous and we can go anywhere we want.

Besides, my Gram went to Vermont's official web site and traveled around a little bit, and that State is pretty small.  Perhaps the state would be too small for more than one Bulldog Princess. I do however, like the slogan on the Vermont Products page: You have to eat anyway so why not improve Vermont's economy while you do it.

So BRING ON MY BISCUITS  - I'm improving the economy!

Love, licks and WAGS.

Going in Circles (blog post)

Isn't it funny how things go around and around and connect your thoughts with the thoughts and plans of others? My Mom and My Gram met Auntie Tracie Hotchner when they were at a Pet Sitters Convention a few years ago.

And then my Gram who is always looking for wonderful ideas to lay at my cute little feet so we will always have some fun with our Blogging Business got in touch with Tracie Hotchner and they began to chat and that is how I met my friend Norman at Wonderful Wagatha's.

And then my Mom got to be on Miss Tracie's radio show called Dog Talk: The Radio Show and that was fun, and they talked about Luke Robinson, who is The Big Dog in 2 Dogs, 2000 Miles, which I blogged about a few days ago, and I wouldn't have known about him if it wasn't for Miss Tracie, and now a LOT of people know about Mr. Luke because of me.  (Please send him a lot of money.  Thanks.)

And we have told so many people about wonderful Danamarie who makes the fine knitamils and then we found out later that our friend Diane who helps with Greyhound Rescue got a knitamil from Ms. Danamarie, and Ms. Diane tells EVERYONE SHE KNOWS ABOUT EVERYTHING and she will certainly spread the word.  And it turns out that Auntie Tracie said she felt really connected to Danamarie's art and so you know that they will meet each other someday.

And of course our wonderful friend Bev Hollis, who talks about me, The Princess, all the time, and we talk back about how wonderful her beautiful pictures are..... she is part of what My Gram says is Daisy's Mutual Admiration Society.    Is that a good thing, Gram, or are you being grumpy?

And of course Mr. Pete Bethune of the Earthrace has told me and my Mom we can come on his boat if only we can get to whereever it happens to be, so that probably is a pipe dream as my Gram says, but Ms. Bev says whereever it is she is going alone with all of her snacks and magazines, so she can be the Photo Graph Taker.

So I was just feeling how wonderful it is to have a Circle of Friends, and then those friends get to have new friends, and life just goes around and around.

Just Thinkiing,
Daisy

Luigi and Wagatha's

From Luigi the Rescued Dobermann who was the very first Dog Talk® Dog of the Month.

Luigi and Wagatha's TreatsLuigi and I received your box yesterday. Luigi especially likes those Wagatha treats, and much to the dismay of his friends, Luigi gets one every night sometime after dinner. He gets the fish oil with dinner. We are saving the packet of dehydrated food to try out some time soon, and will put the Platinum Performance to use, too. We already get that for the elder Dobie in the house who suffers from arthritis. I have told them when I called to order that Tracie sent me. I haven't had a chance to wear my hat yet, but I will soon. And I love that pink magnet paw. I didn't know such an organization existed - find a cure for dog cancer. I wanted to put it on my truck, but then I figure someone might swipe it, so it's on the fridge. It's a great accompaniment to the magnet Squirrel Patrol ribbon.

Absolutely LOVED your show tonight. Love love loved it! I wrote to find out if there's an essence to help curb the poop eaters and will see about the paw licking formula to try. I told Jackson loved the show, too. I have to check out that link to the Reiki book. She gave an even more impressive description of what Reiki is tonight. I've got a better grip on it now. I do not think I have it in me to stay still for an hour doing that, but that's why she is the master and I'm not.

Bean

Bean went to Agway in Bridgehampton New York today and picked out a big ole' can of Wagatha's. YUMMMM!! (this was Bean's comment according to Bambi))
